Set to run strong again
As a seasoned marathon runner and new mum, Ania was used to pushing limits. But when postnatal symptoms slowed her down, she knew it was time to train smarter. With the London Marathon ahead, she came to Bodyset. What followed wasn’t just rehab, it was a shift in mindset, movement, and momentum.
“Motherhood is life changing and the best thing I’ve ever done. But I’d be lying if I said I expected how much recovery was involved.”
As a passionate runner and mum to Lily Rose, Ania had her sights set on completing her 12th London Marathon, her first since giving birth. But a few weeks into postpartum life, she started noticing a heavy sensation during walks. It worried her.
“I didn’t know what it was, and I didn’t feel like I got the answers I needed from my GP. I was told to do Kegels, but no one explained how. I wanted proper support.”
Ania booked a Mummy MOT at Bodyset. “It was a breath of fresh air. I had a full internal assessment, and while it felt a bit daunting at first, it was so reassuring to finally understand what was going on.”
Her specialist graded her pelvic floor strength, explained her symptoms clearly, and put a personalised plan in place. “I started at 2 out of 5. After five sessions, I was up to 4, then 5. It was amazing to see progress, and to feel it.”
Alongside the MOT, Ania also used PelviPower sessions to accelerate her strength and worked through a guided rehab programme. “I realised there’s more to recovery than Kegels. There’s a whole world of support I didn’t know existed.”
For Ania, the physical recovery mattered, but so did the mental.
“Running is a huge part of who I am. And I now know it’s not about bouncing back, it’s about rebuilding. Properly. Safely. And with the right tools.”
What would Ania tell other mums?
“Don’t suffer in silence. If something doesn’t feel right, reach out. There’s expert care out there, and Bodyset made all the difference for me.”
