Set to run with a winning mindset
For Julian, running was more than a goal, it was a gateway to better mental health, stronger focus, and everyday resilience. But just months before his first marathon, an injury threatened to undo everything. With support from the Bodyset team in Oxford, he crossed the start line, finished the race, and discovered what he was truly capable of.
Julian came to Bodyset carrying more than just an injury. He was training for his very first marathon and knew that every day of recovery mattered. He’d tried other physiotherapy clinics before, but they weren’t close enough, or consistent enough, to keep his progress on track. “It took longer to fix the problems,” he says.
With private health insurance and a clear goal in mind, Julian chose Bodyset, drawn by its proximity, its energy, and its expert-led promise.
Working with physiotherapist Manjri, the journey began. He started with a RunFit Assessment, gaining detailed insight into his form, posture, and running mechanics. The session was filmed and analysed, allowing Julian to see exactly where improvements could be made. From there, he received a bespoke strength programme delivered via the Bodyset app, something he credits with speeding up his recovery. “It made a huge difference,” he says. “I had everything I needed at my fingertips.”
Over two to three months, Julian and Manjiri worked closely together. “The great thing is,” he adds, “Manjiri was also training for her first half marathon. It felt like a shared journey.”
By race day in April, Julian was ready. Not just physically, but mentally too. “Without Bodyset, I might not have been able to do the race,” he says. “They got me ready. Now I’m all set for the next one.”
Running, for Julian, is structure, energy and a mindset. “Running gets me out of bed. It helps me think clearly. It keeps me strong in body and mind. I’d recommend it to anyone.”
