What are the benefits of a Pregnancy Massage?

Mind and body relaxation
The perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy a bit of me time. While pregnancy and new motherhood is a magical experience, it can also come partnered with anxiety and fatigue. It’s a time of great change for your life and body. A Pregnancy Massage is an opportunity to relax, connect with your body, and talk to our Women’s Health Specialists about any queries you might have. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Relieve aches and pains
Changes in body shape and posture during pregnancy and the early stages of motherhood can trigger muscle tightness and new aches and pains, including neck and back pain, pelvic pain, and sciatica. Pre and postnatal massages are a wonderful way to gently and safely help relieve those achy and tight areas.

Improve blood and lymphatic circulation
During pregnancy (and new motherhood), your enlarged or growing uterus causes a change in blood and lymphatic circulation, which can often result in swollen feet, calves, and ankles. Our expert therapists use soothing techniques to improve circulation and reduce discomfort and swelling.

Improve sleep
While pregnant, bodily changes and the anxiety and excitement of upcoming life changes can often interrupt sleep. As a new mother, your sleep pattern may be at the mercy of your newborn’s sleep pattern, and it’s not always easy to fall asleep when you have the chance. A Pregnancy Massage can help increase your serotonin production (happy hormones) and improve sleep.

What happens during a Pregnancy Massage?

At the beginning of your appointment, one of our expert Women’s Health Specialists will talk to you about your areas of concern. Following this, they will help you into the most comfortable position for you and your body.

Throughout the rest of your appointment, our specialists will use a range of gentle massage techniques to target your areas of concern, improving blood circulation, relieving tension, and reducing stress in your mind and body. Your therapist will adjust their strokes and techniques to accommodate your stage of pregnancy, and our Pregnancy Massages are always tailored to meet your individual requirements.

You’ll also have the opportunity to talk to your Women’s Health Specialist about any questions you might have around pregnancy and motherhood.

Will you massage my pregnant tummy?

Here at Bodyset, we will not massage your pregnant belly unless you would specifically like us to. Please speak directly to about your Women’s Health Specialist about this during your appointment.

Massage can be an effective way to improve healing of post-C-section scarring, which we can look into during your appointment. However, if scarring is something you would like help with, we advise that you book in for a Women’s Health or Scar Therapy assessment with us.

Are Pregnancy Massages covered by private medical insurance?

Unfortunately, our Pregnancy Massages are not currently covered by private medical insurance.
