What happens during a SkiFit appointment?

Your SkiFit assessment will involve a thorough physio-based assessment that will go through your ski experience, short and long-term ski related goals, injury history and potential risk factors. This will be followed by a series of ski-related objective tests that look at key muscles and joints used during skiing, so we can get you set for your best ski season yet!

Here’s a quick overview of what we’ll cover:

  • Review of your skiing history covering your experience, goals and injuries.
  • Objective assessment, which will focus on several standardised tests which will include but are not limited to

-Assessment of your ski postures and movements.
-Analysis of your strength, range of motion and flexibility including the use of a handheld dynamometer to give you a true measure of your leg strength.

  • Develop a physio-based strength and conditioning plan, bespoke to you and your goals. This could range from an intensive course of exercises, all the way through to massages to get you ready for the chairlifts!

Is SkiFit for me?

Yes! SkiFit is for everyone, from newcomers to experienced skiers, and from children to the elderly. Whether you’re seeking injury prevention, faster recovery, improved performance or all of the above, SkiFit is for you and we can’t wait to help.

Is SkiFit for snowboarders too?

While our SkiFit service is bespoke to skiing we have helped snowboarders in the past to achieve great things and would recommend our Bodycheck MOT service to get a full body diagnosis where we can focus on your specific snowboard movement and create a plan with you to build a strength and conditioning programme which will help you avoid injury and improve performance.

Will I need follow-up appointments?

Based on the results of your SkiFit assessment, you will be given a physiotherapy programme, bespoke to you and your ski goals. We’ll work together to get you SkiFit and ready for the season!

What other services do you offer alongside SkiFit?

In addition to SkiFit, we highly recommend taking advantage of our Bracing Assessment and/or our Footscan & Orthotics Assessment.

Bracing

Are you in need of a brace for your ski injury recovery and performance? Braces are supportive aids designed to alleviate pain, prevent further injuries, and facilitate a quicker recovery following a ski-related injury. They come in various types, crafted from different materials, and offer various levels of support tailored to your specific needs. To find out more please visit our Bracing service page.

Footscan & Orthotics

For ski injury recovery and performance enhancement, our physiotherapists can utilise advanced Gait and Motion Footscan technology to detect issues and imbalances in your posture and movement, whether you’re still or on the move.

The Footscan system records critical objective data, such as foot shape, pressure distribution, and weight balance. Your clinician will provide real-time visual feedback, offering a comprehensive diagnosis and, when needed, designing personalised Phits orthotics.

Phits is a revolutionary 3D insole technology designed to alleviate pressure points and enhance stability. It can help relieve discomfort, prevent future issues, and elevate your skiing performance.

To find out more, please visit our Footscan & Orthotics service page.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear something comfortable. Preferably shorts, a tight-fitting shirt and trainers, so we can better assess how you move. There is no need to bring your ski boots to your initial assessment. However, if you do have your own boots, you may be asked to bring them to later sessions particularly for a Footscan & Orthotics assessment.

How much is a SkiFit assessment?

To view Ski Fit pricing, simply choose one of our SkiFit clinic locations (currently Bristol, Harley Street, Battersea, Farnham, Cobham and Godalming) and then using your preferred clinic here you can see the price list of services.

I have some other health issues. Should I wait until they are seen to first?

The necessity varies based on your specific health concern. If you’re uncertain, we recommend consulting your GP before scheduling a SkiFit appointment.

Thanks Bodyset!

"I’ve been provided a customised exercise programme aimed at boosting my core strength and mobility specific to skiing, and that should enhance my performance and lower the risk of injuries in the upcoming ski season. I was impressed that Jack was also able to link up with my ski coach at Apex2100 to share all the insight from the session. I am now looking forward to working with my coach to include some of the learnings from my SkiFit assessment into my training routine.” Will Freear, Alplne Skier, APEX2100, Team GB.
